PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 A MOM I’LL ALWAYS BE

It seems I’ve waited all my life
For my children to be grown,
For a time to be all by myself,
When they’d leave me quite alone.

The time is ripe.  The time is now,
And yet, they’re still around.
Everyday they call me twice
And look for me in town.

I love them dearly.  Yes, I do.
But I do need some space
To be creatively unique,
To finally find my place.

It seems to me the job should end
On some specific date,
When I turn in my apron.
A time to choose my fate.

But I guess it’s true, and I’ve been told,
A mom I’ll always be.
No matter what their ages,
After all, they’re part of me.
